Slovak national Theatre
History: The best place in Slovakia to taste some real opera is in Bratislava, where the Hungarian kings were honored with a crown ceremony, nearly three centuries back from now. Bratislava was the ‘suburb’ of the imperial capitol and many Italian companies at that time travelled from Vienna, which opened gateways to many musical events, opera and theatrical performances.

Two major spots: The historic building, located on the Hviezdoslavovo Square, where the Oscar winning actor, Joef Kronnr showed his talent. This building was constructed in early `1885-1886. It upholds the spectacular Viennese architecture by the then R. Fellner and H. Helmer. The new building incepted quite recently in 2007 and is located on Pribinova Street, close to the city centre.

State Theatre Kosice
History: Situated at the centre of Kosice, Slovakia, the State Theatre of Kosice is one of the other richly decorated buildings of Slovakia holds. This building was architected in a neo-baroque style, a project of Adolf Lang in the early 1979 and 1899. It boasts a history, 600 years old while the theatre is more than 100 years old, being one of the most significant landmark of Kosice and Slovkia.

What to Spot: You will be amazed seeing the sequined interior décor with plaster ornaments and the lyre shaped stage. Varied themes from William Shakespeare’ tragedies like Othello, Romeo and Juliet, King Lear and even Mid-summers Night’ Dream, have been decorated in the ceiling.Step inside the State Theatre of Kosice and step into the past, escape for some time from your real world of humdrum from the city traffics.
