Mountain Biking in High Tatras – for a Nice Adventure

Slovakia is a paradise for the adventure sports lovers, and if you love cycling and mountain biking, the High Tatras will provide you the ultimate trails for this exciting activity. The altitude and the climate of the High Tatras are just perfect for such adventure sports. Whether you do mountain biking professionally or casually, the high altitudes of the Tatra Mountains will offer you plenty of opportunities to perfect your skills. Cycling is, in fact, the best way to explore the High Tatras. Not only does it provide you with a refreshing ride, but it also lets you marvel at some of the most beautiful sceneries that Slovakia has to offer. Here are some of the best mountain biking trails that you can consider:

MTB trail Poprad Lake:
The 11,0 km long biking trail is appropriate for the expert mountain bikers. The track offers elevation of up to 248 m. The trail starts 6 km west from the village of Vyšné Hagy, from in front of a bridge. The trail is close to the main road II/537 and it leads to Popradské Lake. The first section of the trail is about 1.25 km long and it will take you to the local train station of Popradské Pleso. From this point onwards, the route stretches to the forest near Popradské Lake. The length of the second section is about 4, 25 km. the route is open pretty much throughout the year except for the winter. Due to the demanding nature of the trail, it is only recommended for the pro mountain bikers. And you need a high quality bike to enjoy the ride.

MTB track Kežmarok White Water – Green Lake:
If you want to ride on the longest and most difficult trail in the High Tatras area, the Kežmarok White Water – Green Lake would be ideal for you. The 16,8 km long trail has the elevation of 670 m. The track begins from the bust stop of Kezmarska Biela Voda that is near the main road II/537. From there, you would have to proceed following the grave forest road, which is marked by red. After about 3,2 km, you will reach “Salviovy pramen-spring”. Once you reach there, you would have to turn left and cross the creek. After that, there will be a long ride up the narrow forest. This 3km long section, especially the downhill tracks, has several risky spots for bikers. The granite stones and chippings that you will find on the track will only make the ride even more dangerous. The track ends with a 2,2 km long stretch that ends close to the mountain hut of Zelene pleso. From there, it is a much safer and more comfortable ride. If you are a skilled rider, equipped with a sturdy mountain bike, this track is definitely for you!
